Before T-Rex, Glam Icon Marc Bolan psyched out with John's Children
Marc Bolan got his start in the 60's psych group, John's Children and he instantly gave them the edge they needed. Bolan's songwriting chops and signature vibrato, single-handedly set them apart from the swelling influx of the other British mop-top rockers.
With lyrics like "lift up your skirt and fly" ("Desdemona") and song titles such as "Not The Sort Of Girl You Take To Bed", these Children were too controversial to fully take off at the time.
This fan collage video for the song "Desdemona" that features various photos of the band. Totally mod-groovy! My favorite lyric,"some chick in the rude" (instead of nude), refers to a Toulouse-Lautre painting.
These songs are pre-punk gems, previewing the future poster boy of Glam Rock: Mark Bolan as T. Rex.
