Everybody Loves Weekends: The Saturday People

Everybody Loves Weekends: The Saturday People

Harmonies and melodies of Pet Sounds paired against the slacker jangle of Pavement? It's pop alright...and it's The Saturday People.

The Saturday People come off as indie-rock amateurs– which they are. But to me, this is an admirable quality, as they strive for a perfect pop sound, that almost no one will hear besides the indie-underground. The Saturday People are pop music for people who relate to the Zombies and Kinks of yesterday more than the Fall Out Boys and Killers of today.

Sadly, these guys haven't played live since 2002. I guess they only rehearse together on Saturdays, while their wives simultaneously assemble for their book club.

You can buy The Saturday People's music from Slumberland Records.
