Get Skronked Up With The Beakers!

"Look to the past for your new ideas," cries the Beakers lead singer Mark E. Smith (not to be confused with the Fall's singer of the same name) on their song "Thinking Postmodern." I suppose he could have also yelped the classic adage, "everything old is new again," as hipsters these days can't get enough of yesterday's culture. Regardless, this band of art schooled James Brown/ James White fans were on to something, if only for a moment, with their 1980 flash-in-the-pan record, Four Steps Toward A Cultural Revolution.

For fans of Gang of Four and early Talking Heads, this record is all you will need, and all you will get from The Beakers. The band only last one year, but this song "Thinking Postmodern" is so cool, I actually named my MA thesis after it. I'm fairly certain you will think it is pretty cool too, so you should buy the album over at K Records.
