Illegal Art Offers Free Digital EP Featuring Girl Talk and Steinski

Illegal Art has posted a free digital EP on their website featuring Girl Talk, Steinski, Realistic, and Oh Astro. Intended to promote upcoming releases from each of those artists, the EP offers full-track samples from the latter three’s new albums and a Girl Talk track from an out-of-print compilation. Master of the mash-up new wave, Girl Talk, Gregg Gillis off stage, has become hugely popular since the Spring 2006 release of his last album, Night Ripper, received critical and popular acclaim. Gillis’ shows are notoriously rowdy dance parties and his resume has grown to include events and venues of impressively large size. Check out his performance at Coachella earlier this year.

Steven Stein, aka Steinski, is one of Hip-Hop and sampling’s most influential producers. As a co-creater of the Lessons, a collection of sample based tracks from the early 80’s, Steinski cemented himself as one of the pioneers of early underground Hip-Hop and the mash-up. That’s why a lot of his stuff isn’t officially released, ‘cause it’s illegal when it comes to those pesky copy write laws. Steinski maintains an informative blog about music and stuff in general called Blame It On Steinski. Check it out.
