Shearwater's Epic "Leviathan, Bound"
Shearwater's fifth album, Rook, is a sprawling and eerie epic that is best appreciated on rainy days. "Leviathan, Bound," it's most mesmerizing track, is s percussion-less ballad centered around the haunting, hair-raising voice of lead singer Jonathan Meiburg, formerly of Okkervil River. It has a classic arrangement and delicate bell action, coupled with tense urgency. Shearwater? Shear beauty.
Rook will be available courtesy of Matador Records on June 3rd. The band plays Philly's Johnny Brenda's on June 17th.
