Roger "Syd" Barrett the founder of psychedelic giants Pink Floyd, passed away in 2006. This year marks the 40th anniversary of their landmark debut album Piper at the Gates of Dawn. There have been several books written and a few documentaries produced about his short career with the band. Check out the following clips and discover (or re-discover) the pure, psychedelic genius of 60's Floyd. (Fans of Syd Barrett, check out the first and last vids especially. Really awesome, rare footage!)

Introducing The Pink Floyd:

A video for the band's first single in 1967, "Arnold Layne:"

A video for the band's second single in 1967, "See Emily Play:"

The band playing the last Syd Barrett/Pink Floyd song, "Jugband Blues:"

Amazing stuff!

Pick up the 40th Anniversary special-edition of Piper at the Gates of Dawn at Amazon.
