Take a Ben Franklin Airbath with the Strapping Fieldhands

Recognize any of these Fieldhands?

Recognize any of these Fieldhands?

The Strapping Fieldhands are probably the only American band (in my opinion) who can get away with singing their songs in a fake British accent. Maybe it's because I find their obvious idolation with British psychedelic ala Syd Barrett and Soft Machine more endearing than annoying.

The 1995 album Wattle and Daub on Shangri-LA Records includes the ingeniously titled Fieldhands classic, "Ben Franklin Airbath." Inspired by Franklin's preoccupation with the beneficial attributes of fresh air, the Fieldhands twofold tribute to Piper At The Gates of Dawn-era psychedelia and Ben Franklin is as refreshing as a solitary skinny dip.

Check out the Strapping Fieldhands and all of their able-bodied music at CD Universe.
