The Perfect Mix: New Music From Dose One, "Overchoiced"

Stripes or solids? Both combined!

Stripes or solids? Both combined!

If Mos Def is The Miles Davis of Hip-Hop, then Dose One is the genre's Brian Eno. He and the Anticon collective explore ambiance like no other artists in the genre today, and they succeed at almost every turn. One may argue that sometimes they go too far, and exceed the boundaries of "true" Hip-Hop, but I say...good for them.

In the same way that I am not a big fan Eno's strictly ambient works, I am also not a big fan of the more abstract material on Dose's new record Skeleton Repellent. I do appreciate it, however, I prefer it when said artists mix their gift for songwriting with their ability to create interesting sounds and rhythms.

For example, "Overchoiced" is one of the less experimental songs off of his new record, but for the reason that I mentioned above, it's the most successful. Check out Dose One at his best.

Buy Skeleton Repellent at Tone Vendor.
