The Television Personalities Could Have Been Bigger Than the Beatles
TVP Dan Treacy knows where Syd Barrett lives
Since the beginning of their career the Television Personalities have been spot on with their commentary on social relevance and emotional awareness. In 1978, they released their first EP Where's Bill Grundy Now? which includes the timeless anthem "Part Time Punks" and the empathetic tribute to disgraced (thanks to the Sex Pistols) British TV man Bill Grundy. "Part Time Punks" strikes a particular chord with me as it calls out all of the fashionable scenesters who "walk around together and try and look trendy but it's a shame, cause they all look the same." So smart, I love it. Check out these mp3's and if you like 'em, it would behoove you to buy Part Time Punks- The Very Best of the Television Personalities. More than half of the tracks on this record are awesome and as a greatest hits compilation, it has everything on it you would need from the TVP's. No joke, I love this record.
